Poker game rules
You're at a party and you hear one success story after another. Online poker is totally "hot" and a nice bonus is that there is a lot of money to be won. You decide to spend an evening looking for good online casinos that offer poker. If your friends can do it, surely you can too? But what exactly are the basic Poker game rules? Use your common sense and check out the game rules on this page before you do.
We start with the most familiar Poker terms, assuming the most well-known Poker form, "Texas Hold 'Em". When playing the game, it is of course important that you know exactly what the following words mean.
The Dealer/Croupier is considered the referee of the game. This person does not participate in the game himself.
The player continues playing without betting any amount.
When you fold, you put your cards away. This is done when someone bets but your cards are not good enough to continue playing.
When you call, you call and pay the bet. You put in as many chips as required.
With a raise, you raise the last bet and put in more chips.
The game proceeds according to different phases. Namely, the Preflop phase, the Flop phase, the Turn phase, the River phase and the showdown.
The Preflop Phase
This is the first round of betting where the first two players to the left of the dealer must place the mandatory bet in front of them on the Poker table.
The Flop phase
After the Preflop, in the Flop phase the dealer discards the top card face down. He then turns over three community cards. The player to the left of the dealer (the Small Blind) may now decide whether to bet nothing and play on (check) or bet (bet). The other players can also check, call, raise or fold.
The Turn phase
After the second round, a fourth community card is turned over (after discarding the top card). This is followed by another round of betting.
The River Phase
The dealer again discards the top card of the deck "blind". After this, the fifth community card is turned over and the final round of betting takes place.
The cards of all players are compared. The player to the left of the Dealer starts by showing his/her cards.
With these basic Poker game rules, you can get by for a while. But which card collections are good or bad? In the next article, we'll explain more about the different Poker hands so you can go into the game fully prepared.
